First Step

What will that first step feel like?

That first moment I stand tall?

Will I dance or kneel in worship?

Some wonder why I will not wait for streets of gold

On which to take that step

I smile at them and respond

“If I did, you wouldn’t see it!”

I would rather walk on the streets of my town,

And exhibit God’s power to my fellow man

Then see Christ’s face and take His hand

When I gain the strength to stand

So now I wait and wonder when

That day will finally come

I sit with Jesus, asking Him

“How long oh Lord, how long?”

I may not get an answer

But at least we are taking this journey together
